President

Description: To represent, as the leader of the Executive Council and the Society’s Members, the best interests of the Society in furtherance of its aims.

Terms of Reference:

  • Oversee the actions of the Executive Council and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to serve the needs of the membership.
  • Represent the membership in accordance with the Constitution.
  • Develop and maintain the growth of the Society in association with the Executive Council, through its strategic action plan, publications, and fundraising activities.
  • Preside over the Triennial Symposium.
  • In association with the Secretary/Treasurer, ensure that suitable arrangements are made for hosting and delivering the Triennial Symposium.
  • Take all necessary actions to maintain the Society in a positive financial balance at all times.

Vice President (Fund Raising)

Job Description: To act on behalf of the President and the Society’s Members by soliciting appropriate funding and support for the Society’s activities.

Terms of Reference:

  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain relationships with all appropriate sources of support, including financial backing.
  • Manage the sourcing of support in a professional manner that aligns with the Society’s aims.
  • Ensure that all conditions associated with any support granted to the Society are duly met.
  • Call upon the Executive Council for assistance as required in executing these duties.
  • Prepare a written report of activities annually in September and in advance of the Triennial Symposium.
  • Attend the Triennial Symposium and present a verbal account of activities from the previous triennium to the General Meeting.
  • Deputise for the President as arranged.

Secretary/Treasurer (Permanent)

Job Description: To serve as the operational and coordination centre of the Society and manage its financial resources.

Terms of Reference:

  • Hold, manage, and account for the Society’s financial resources.
  • Release funds only with the prior agreement of the President.
  • Maintain a central repository for past records and information pertaining to the Society’s activities.
  • Prepare annual audited accounts and, prior to the Triennial Symposium, a statement of the accounts.
  • Take responsibility for membership recruitment drives and follow through on them.
  • Attend the Triennial Symposium and provide a verbal presentation at the General Meeting.
  • Facilitate the receipt of all financial resources due to the Society, including membership fees, conference registration fees, and other income.
  • Maintain a current membership list, ensure timely renewals, and distribute the list annually to all members.
  • Provide the General Meeting with a report on the membership.

Councillor for Publications

Job Description: To promote the interests of the Society by managing the dissemination outputs (publications) that further its aims.

Terms of Reference:

  • Seek and collate relevant information for publication in the Society’s biannual Newsletter.
  • Develop and manage the Society’s electronic information systems.
  • Coordinate paper and poster contributions for the Triennial Symposium, including their selection, technical review, and compilation, in association with the President and Secretary/Treasurer.
  • Develop and manage public relations and awareness initiatives for the Society.
  • Oversee the creation of a Bulletin Series for the Society.
  • Prepare an annual written report in September and in advance of the Triennial Symposium, and present a verbal report of the actions taken during the triennium at the General Meeting.
  • Attend the Triennial Symposium.

Regional Councillors

Description: To represent the Society within their respective regions and facilitate a two-way exchange of information to further the Society’s aims.

Terms of Reference:

  • Publicise the activities of the ISTRC at appropriate forums.
  • Serve as the liaison with regional branches of the Society.
  • Actively recruit new members to the Society.
  • Contribute to strategic reviews and provide overviews of national or regional requirements and activities.
  • Review scientific papers as required.
  • Inform the Executive Council of new initiatives, workshops, conferences, resolutions, and national or regional plans relevant to the Society.
  • Prepare regular (at minimum annual) reports to the Secretariat each September and in advance of the Triennial Symposium.
  • Attend the Triennial Symposium and provide a verbal report to the General Meeting.
