Dr. Godwin Atser is an agricultural economist/extension expert and the Nigeria Country Director for Sasakawa Africa Association. Prior to this position, he was the Advocacy, Promotion & Outreach Leader for the Building an Economically Sustainable, Integrated Cassava Seed System, Phase 2 (BASICS-II) with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

BASICS-II is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture as the lead implementing agency.

Dr Atser worked on several projects funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  He was the Digital Extension & Advisory Services Specialist with the African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) project; and the Communication & Knowledge Exchange Expert with the Cassava Weed Management Project (CWMP), all at IITA.

Dr Atser is skillful in digital extension, proposal development, advocacy, training, development communications, knowledge management, resource mobilization, marketing and public affairs/media relations. He has several publications focusing on roots and tubers to his credit.
