Dr. Angela T Alleyne

Dr Angela T. Alleyne is a Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), in Barbados. She is also the Programme Coordinator of the M.Sc./Diploma in Biosafety at the UWI. She was recently appointed the Regional Councillor for Roots and Tubers in the Caribbean region to the International Society of Tropical Root Crops (ISTRC).

She has a Ph.D. in Biology and an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with Microbiology at the UWI Mona Campus, Jamaica. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Plant Pathology at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln (2001-2003) and an Assistant Professor Biology at the Edward Waters College, Jacksonville Florida (2003-2008). Dr. Alleyne has written over thirty peer reviewed articles, book chapters and refereed abstracts. Throughout her career she has used Molecular Biology to investigate plant pathogens and their populations in Barbados and the wider Caribbean, with a focus on the major tropical root and tuber crops.
